Indonesia has more mangrove forests than any other country in the world - more than 2.9 million hectares that store one third of the world's coastal carbon stock. With this potential, mangrove forests are Indonesia's best hope for slowing climate change. CIFOR Principal Scientist, Daniel Murdiyarso talks about what needs to be done to protect the archipelago's mangrove forests.Learn more about the findings from CIFOR's new study,“The potential of Indonesian mangrove forests for global climate change mitigation†in our Forest News blog: http://blog.cifor.org/31112The study is available here: http://www.cifor.org/library/5669/the-potential-of-indonesian-mangrove-forests-for-global-climate-change-mitigation/For more information about CIFOR's work on mangrove forests, visit: http://blog.cifor.org/wetlands and http://cifor.org/swamp
