The 24th Conference of the Parties (COP 24) to the UNFCCC

Katowice, Poland
 2 Dec 2018 - 14 Dec 2018

The 24th Conference of the Parties (COP24) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will be held in Katowice, Poland, from Dec. 2-14, 2018, with a key objective to adopt the implementation guidelines of the Paris Climate Change Agreement.

This would include ramping up climate action so that the central goal of the agreement can be achieved – to hold the world’s average temperature to as close as possible to 1.5 degrees Celsius. In line with this, research from across the CGIAR Research Program on Forests, Trees and Agroforestry (FTA) aims to develop effective, equitable and inclusive solutions to jointly address climate change and development outcomes.

FTA, the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and the World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) will be cohosting an exhibition space to showcase work on climate change mitigation and adaptation at international, national and local levels – supporting countries and actors to incorporate forests, agroforestry and sustainable landscape management into policies and practices.

CGIAR will also host an exhibition space, highlighting solutions for the complex challenges facing the world’s food system and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Representatives of CIFOR, ICRAF and Bioversity International will also participate in side events throughout COP24, as listed below. For details of the entire conference, check the agenda and the side event listing.
